Mario Trevilla and I left Miami and flew to the Dominican Republic this afternoon. Our bags were stuffed with medical supplies and over the weight limit. We were thankful to find that the airline was waving extra charges for bags holding relief supplies for Haiti. At the airport we ran into another small team from a Haitian church. They will be flying in and traveling in as we are. The border crossing we will be using remains open and not overcrowded, but these conditions can change any time. Tomorrow before crossing, we will buy additional supplies to add to the food in the container. The truck carrying the first container has extra space. We will fill this with much needed items. Hopefully, a pallet of charcoal, tarps, rope, and pots for cooking. The city we will be bringing the supplies to is reported to have 200,000 refugees who have arrived from Port-au-Prince.
Pray that we will be able to complete the in-country logistics tomorrow. Also, please pray for a safe and easy crossing.
