Today was spent in the Dominican Republic completing logistics for transportation of containers and other supplies. We crossed the city visiting with suppliers, customs agents, and truck companies. We secured pallets of bottled water so that water does not need to be shipped from Miami. This will enable us to concentrate on gathering food and medical supplies. A source was also found for tarps, and medicine. God providentially opened doors for new relationships that will aid the work. We have much to be thankful for.
The weak link has been the ship. The containers will not arrive until Friday. We hope to finish up here tomorrow and head into Haiti. We had expected to ride with a container truck. Pray that we will be able to secure other transportation.
Yes, this looks like a Costco. They have a PriceSmart in the DR. We opened an account so that the mission can buy items needed that cannot be shipped down.
We are always learning about God’s timing. Today we received an update on the ship’s location. (The link provides a map with location as of this morning.) This will change planning for the team going toward the weekend. Everything is ready to go here. But, the ship will not be here for three days.
